Barloworld welcomes Dr Nolulamo Nobambiswano Gwagwa as the new Chairman of Barloworld

Barloworld Group today announced Dr Nolulamo (Lulu) Nobambiswano Gwagwa has stepped into her role as the new chairman of Barloworld. Dr Gwagwa has been appointed to the board of directors of Barloworld as an independent non-executive director and the chairman of the Board, with effect from 1 October 2021, following the retirement announcement of Ms Neo Dongwana in February 2021. The appointment of Dr Gwagwa was made pursuant to Barloworld's nomination policy of directors.

Dr Gwagwa will also chair the Nomination Committee and Strategy and Investment Committee and serve as a member of the company's Remuneration Committee and Social, Ethics and Transformation (SET) Committee.

Dr Gwagwa brings more than 20 years of experience to her new role. She has made meaningful contributions to several organisations in various positions over the years, including successfully leading in the National Department of Public Works as a Deputy Director General and being an Executive Director at Lereko Investments, a black-owned investment company. Nolulamo is a multifaceted woman: an accomplished development planner; business leader; non-executive director; executive coach; and philanthropist.

"I am honoured to take on the role of chairman for Barloworld. I look forward to contributing to Barloworld's vision of creating enduring economic and social value for our stakeholders, nurturing our existing relationships and identifying opportunities of growth" says Dr Gwagwa.

As the directors of Barloworld, welcome Nolulamo to the company, they bid farewell to Neo, who has served as chairman of the company since February 2020, and has been a valuable member of the Barloworld family since May 2012.

The directors extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Neo for her leadership, mentoring and sound advice over the past year.
