Position: Investigations Manager (3 Year Fixed Term Contract) X2

Business Unit: Barloworld Corporate Office

Location: Sandton

Reporting to: Executive: Ethics and Compliance

Overview: Job purpose and deliverables

Core purpose of the role

The role of the Investigations Manager is to provide management support to the Group Ethics and Compliance function in the investigation of reported non-compliances (including any unethical or illegal conduct) reported to Barloworld via the Ethics Line, walk-ins or through any other source.

Job Objectives/Key Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the full life-cycle of all reported non-compliances (Ethics Line reports and “walk-ins”) in accordance with Group and Divisional processes and time-lines, through an ongoing system of logging, tracking, monitoring and reporting
  • Ability to investigate reported non-compliances in accordance with approved investigation methodologies
  • Centralisation, logging and tracking of “walk-in” and Ethics Line reports on the GRC
  • Reporting all walk-ins on improper conduct to the Group Ethics Office for logging on the Case Management System (“CMS”)
  • Monitoring, tracking and reporting on the status of all investigations
  • Ensuring the appropriate root cause treatment of non-compliances and unethical conduct
  • Appropriate stakeholder communication on the findings and outcomes of investigations
  • Management of the external panel of forensic investigators
  • Analysis and reporting of key investigation trends and data

Internal and External communication

Internal

  • Engage in a participative manner with all levels of employees including Divisional and Group executives
  • Reporting into internal governance committees
  • Engage with cross-functional stakeholders: HR, IT, Internal Audit, Legal, Procurement, Marketing and Communications

External

  • Engage with service providers and suppliers to verify scoping of investigations, services rendered to enable payment of invoices and overall management of investigation panel of service-providers

 

Overview: Essential individual competencies to be successful in the job

Minimum Required Qualification / Registration

  • Appropriate bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Audit, Risk, Forensics, Legal or IT)
  • Postgraduate degree would be an advantage
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) would be an advantage

Minimum Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a related or similar role
  • Law enforcement authority or corporate experience would be an advantage

  • Excellent computer literacy and data analytics (sound knowledge of MS Office – Word, Excel and Power Point and SAP)
