Barloworld Equipment’s social initiative makes for a World of Difference

On 25 July 2019 Barloworld Equipment Zambia, with support from Barloworld Group, signed an agreement with Village Water Zambia to launch a community benefit partnership that will provide 20 000 residents in the Zamtan community in Kitwe with access to clean water.

The partnership, which reflects our commitment to enabling growth and progress in the communities within which we operate. Barloworld has invested invest K700, 000.00 (approximately R790, 000.00) to establish a clean water supply system that will improve their quality of life. To date, residents in this community, located in the Copperbelt Province, have mostly had to rely on crudely dug and shallow wells for water provision. This, at times, poses a health risk as shallow wells draw polluted water.

In keeping with our Barloworld group focus on sustainability and empowerment, community members will be trained on borehole maintenance and equipped to take an active role in sustaining the water project after completion and hand-over of the water scheme.
