This Earth Hour, Barloworld joins the global effort to shine the light on climate change. Earth Hour takes place for one hour from 8:30pm to 9:30pm on Saturday, 19 March. To be a part of it, and to make your change, simply turn off all your lights. Embracing the darkness does not have to be a daunting experience, you could use this time to reflect on ways in which you can make a difference with one simple action.
Barloworld’s Executive for Sustainability, Christopher Whitaker, leads by example and makes his change by minimising his contribution to carbon emissions by driving a scooter instead of a car.
“I love my scooter, and use it to get to work and for commuting around town. Climate change is a real issue facing our environment, and it makes me feel good knowing that I am contributing by making an effort to minimise my carbon emissions. Every effort counts, regardless of how small. If we all make a contribution, we will make a world of difference. This Earth Hour, think about what you can do to make a change. Let’s work together to limit our environmental footprint.”
